Amazing action games, touristic photos of Kerala, a hero who really knows how to fight, a seductive heroine, and you're off, you have a movie!
This is the Baaghi Ronnie (Tiger Shroff), whose father takes him to Kerala in a Kalaripayattu institute, headed by a close friend. My son is a rebel, a Baaghi. Please straighten it! Make him a human! approve the father's letter.
The head of the institute wears a martial arts costume that does not look like traditional Kalaripayattu. But then, it's a film that shows a tragic death by dispersing the character who has trouble breathing with close-ups of a Kathakali dance number. It is useless to complain that the context is not correct or to emphasize that it is an obvious disregard for classical dance. There is the song in which the two actors play a romance against the backdrop of confused elephants standing in the water with their mahouts.
Ronnie has a nice meeting with Sia (Shraddha Kapoor) who tends to speak out loud. When they meet, she rolls her eyes and proclaims, "I will not speak to you" (to the clouds, let's assume it), when it suddenly stops raining. Basically, Shraddha Kapoor plays the love interest and refuses to act at his age, without any personality or life goal, which is to dance in the rain and convey the romantic point of view.
Villain Raghav (Sudheer Babu) is the son of the director of the institute. He also falls in love with Sia. During the night, he passes from a devoted son to Raavan. And then a modern Ramayan begins to pretend to be the story of a rebel.
For a film called Baaghi, the central character does not seem really rebellious. There is nothing revolutionary about him or his life. He is at best a spoiled child and a hiker.
Tiger Shroff, who has a striking resemblance to Hrithik Roshan in the film, is an excellent artist. But an actor is not! He comes alive in the action scenes and beats and surrenders with devotion. But he is not at home when it comes to actually playing.
Suddenly, Babu barely threatens a very tortuous role. Shraddha Kapoor is the only one involved in the film. but then it gave him such a boring role. The kind of insipid role that heroines have played for decades.
Director Sabbir Khan (Heropanti, Kambakkht Ishq) is not a fan of subtlety. So, everything is noisy and exaggerated. Use flashbacks if you forget the motivations of a character. During a fight, we are shown color X-ray images showing broken bones, if we have not drawn them from the actor's expressions. The plot is interesting in some parts, but repeats itself. And it is equipped with annoying video game music. Really, there is no moment of silence in the movie!
Director of Photography Binod Pradhan takes flight to save the situation and capture Kerala in all its splendor. And then there is the action of the martial arts. These are the only two things that are worthwhile in the movie.
